Book Reviews - If Nobody Speaks Of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor

This book had a very mixed reception, with everyone either really enthused or really disappointed!

Those who enjoyed the book found the character portayals charming and touching and the portrait of the life of the street beautifully reminiscent

Those who didn't enjoy it found the myriad of characters confusing and the main narrator weak and irritating. They felt the book would have made a lovely collection of shor stories, about the individual households, but that there was no need to try to intertwine them so much.

We all felt that the book built up tension very well and that it was very cleverly written, with the past tense describing the presnt and vice versa.
