A succesful book, which we felt crammed a lot of action into a very short time frame.
It was an interesting study of the male mind - compartmentalising mundane events (such as fish shopping and visiting aging parents) with extraordinary action (muggings) and moving smoothly between them.
We felt the ending was unbelievable and rather twee - the rest of the book was an unqualified success.
