Book Reviews - The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene
The review of this book was somewhat hampered by the fact that many of the group had a copy where the pages had been mixed up and so the book's sequence was wrong! Some members thought this was intentional (cf Cloud Atlas) so it was some time before everyone realised why the review discussion was getting a little confused!
This was thought to be a very powerful novel, with many levels of interpretation in the style of a modern-day parable. The main character was initially very hard to empathise with, but many people felt sympathetic towards him by the end. The theme was interesting and refreshing and we were all surprised that such a short book couls provide such a level of insight and involvment.
