About the book club

Not Just Desserts Book Club was founded in September 2001 by a group of like-minded mothers from Tunbridge Wells. We concentrate on contemporary fiction, but are open to any books that members have enjoyed. We are quite a small group with around 8-12 members at any one time, allowing for lively discussions where all can participate in an open, unthreatening environment.

We meet once a month (on Thursday evenings) and take it in turns to host the evenings in our own homes. It is a tradition that whoever is hosting the evening provides a selection of desserts, which we enjoy with a glass of wine or two.....

Whoever is hosting the next meeting brings 1,2 or 3 books they wish to propose and we take a vote on which book to read.

We are an informal, friendly group, most of whom live in Tunbridge Wells. We all have children and the evening often provides a welcome break from the stresses and strains of family life!
